Retail concept 50 years ago and 5 years into the future. How do we leverage?

The retail concept 50 years ago focuses on location exposure to reach out to the people. By having ordinary distributors open retail outlets, it was the best way to expose new products to the customers and have people know about your products.

Today, with the advancement in technology and the communicative tools available, we no longer have to depend on the only sole source of exposure that have been existing for over the past five decades.

Problem is, how do we leverage on it?

You need to know that the real value of every business is the “know how to” between the ordinary consumer and the person behind the business.

By opening up retail outlets, its not just about bringing products to new different locations. Its about tapping on the markets of independent marketers. It might not be that efficient but we do not have much other choices. Going the P2P marketing channel would be worst because the ordinary average joe on the street do not have much to offer as well due to their limitations on options of connectivity as well.

With the advancement in technology today, we are ever than ever more connected with new people and the people around us. A simple whatsapp, wechat can end us communicating with people from corners of the world. A blog, an ad online, can end up in a sale for the merchant.

The future of the retail industry lies in the people, doesn’t matter you believe or not. Today, maintaining strong networks with the people is the core to making money..fast. A great way to start would be to share your inventory with your network and let them know they have something that makes them feel closer and connected to you.
